Groundforce Trevethin recently teamed up with both Pontnewynydd and Penygarn Primary schools and Torfaen County Borough Council to undertake a community planting day at the Lifestation building in Trevethin.
50 sapling trees were planted in very cold conditions with the view to harvesting the produce in years to come. The trees consisted of varieties of damsons, apples and pears and were installed on a section of land adjacent to the centres premises. Hopefully the young people will watch the tress they planted grow and develop over time and that a derelict piece of land will be brought back to life for the benefit of the local community.
This is part of Groundforce Trevethin’s on-going commitment to improve local areas and be involved in working with local schools community and voluntary groups.
